A very special and unique opportunity awaits those seeking to make a pilgrimage to Saint Anthony Chapel. Tucked away atop one of Pittsburgh’s many hills, the chapel is home to the world’s largest collection of Christian relics in the world, outside of the Vatican. As if that’s not enough, it owes its existence to the efforts of one man—Fr. Suitbert Mollinger—and its livelihood to the generosity of donors, pilgrims, and truth-seeking visitors; as such, the chapel is proof positive of the unbelievable and indescribably beautiful things that the Holy Spirit can do through even just one of us, and the amplification of such wonders through the coordinated efforts of a community.
While in the chapel, one can’t help but to gaze with amazement and awe at 5,000 relics of enshrined in several hundred reliquaries, as well as life-size statues depicting Our Lord’s Passion as contemplated through the Stations of the Cross; with eyes of faith, one experiences in a supernatural but very real way, the spiritual gifts of grace, mercy, wisdom, and love, that Our Heavenly Father has bestowed on the remains of the champions of faith whom we lovingly call “saints.”
Whether you are a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, or traveling to us from far-away points, we welcome you with open arms and pray that your physical journey to us, and more importantly your spiritual journey with us, will bear much fruit and bring unto you a peace and joy that this world cannot provide.
We look forward to seeing you!
