PILGRIMAGE FOR JUBILEE YEAR OF ST. FRANCIS
Saturday, April 18th | 10:00am | Free Will Offering WelcomedSt. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish 225 37th Street Pittsburgh, PA 15201Pope Leo has proclaimed a Jubilee Year for the 800th Anniversary of the Death of St. Francis. Pope Leo has granted particular indulgences for the jubilee.
With the Capuchin Motherhouse on the property Padre Pio Parish, St. Augustine Church in Lawrenceville has been designated as one of the Jubilee Pilgrimage Sites. We are inviting you to join us at that site for this special indulgence.
Schedule for the pilgrimage to obtain an indulgence is:
- 10am visit to the hall with an introduction to the Jubilee Year. A program has been designed for the day and a booklet prepared with a QR access and hard copies available.
- Brief presentation of Franciscan history followed by a visit to the Motherhouse chapel.
- 11:30am Mass in the church followed by an opportunity for confessions. Mass and Confessions will be celebrated by the Capuchin Friars.
- You may visit the altar of St. Francis which is enhanced with an image of the Transitus of St. Francis. You are able to leave your prayers and requests in the basket provided.
An indulgence is defined as “a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church, which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints" (CIC 992; CCC 1471).
